We met in 2007 through a charity event we were both involved in called STAAR Night. Jacki was the choreographer, and Mark was one of the performers. We would see each other every week and there was definitely a spark of interest from both sides! After a few months, Mark asked Jacki out on their first date. That was how it all began.
Over the next 3 years, we tried to build a relationship the way society and culture says is right. Even though we loved each other our relationship failed miserably. We were caught up in a web of selfishness, deceit, and the pursuit of worldly relationship experiences. We broke up and got back together more times than we can count.
Finally in 2010, we separated for good. Over the next 2 years, God called each of us to complete surrender to Him – and we both responded! We weren’t connected during that time period, which allowed God to do His work in both of us individually. We can see now why that was so necessary.
But the love that we shared never went away. In fact, the closer we walked with Jesus, the greater the tug on our hearts became towards each other. Mark would be out on dates with other women and think, “What am I doing here? I should be with Jacki.” And Jacki would date other men, usually thinking, “They’re great, but they’re not Mark.”
In February 2012, Mark finally reached out to Jacki with this message:
It was the only message Jacki would have responded to at that point. We met for sushi. Being together felt like coming home. Still, we tried for several months to be “just friends.” After all, there was a lot of water under the bridge and we thought it might be too late for us. Maybe friendship was what we would simply have to settle for.
But God had plans for us to be together. God did some final key refining that helped us both let go of sinful influences of our past, and we were finally free to fully fall in love with each other all over again.
In September 2012 we started talking about getting married. We kept the conversation between the two of us and God, knowing there was much to sort through. The more we talked and prayed about it, the more we were positive that we were meant to share the rest of our lives with each other.
On November 26, 2012, Mark proposed to Jacki on a moonlit beach in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Jacki said yes!
7 weeks later we were married at a Surprise wedding! Our guests thought they were showing up for an engagement party, but we surprised them by getting married that night.
The key point is that we knew that God wanted to use us – and our story of “Life & Love, Before & After Christ” to reach others. Our marriage was created out of love for each other and an even greater love for Christ.
Called to share our story and the message of Jesus Christ, Team Tait Ministries was created.
We’re now speaking out through speaking at events and our talk radio show “Living Life 180” on FaithTalk 1360.
We also use our musical gifts to lead worship at events, churches, and conferences.
Here’s where you can find us in the upcoming months: Our schedule.
